LEADERSHIP
As a Presbyterian church, the Union Chapel is governed by a group of elders known as “the session.”
We have 2 types of elders, ruling elders and teaching elders. Both are tasked with the oversight of the pastoral ministry and the safeguarding of the teaching and doctrine of the church.
Teaching elders in particular, are tasked with the regular preaching of God’s Word and the administering of the sacraments on the Lord’s Day.
We also have deacons who assist the elders by tending to various practical concerns in the church, particularly the material care of those in need.
Alongside the formal offices of elder and deacon we have several volunteer and paid staff members who help the church function well across its various ministries.
